    Shop Closure

Because we will be taking a three week absence from the studio while we motorcycle to Colorado, Arizona, and back, we will be closing the shop while we are away. The current shop will close on 9/13 at 6 a.m. in order to give us time to finalize any last minute orders before we leave.

    New Shop Home

The great news is that when we re-open the shop after our return in the first week of October, we will have an all new online home! Both the Fibernymph Dye Works web site and shop site will be located at fibernymphdyeworks.com. In order to make that happen, this current site (at that same URL) will need to temporarily shut down to facilitate the changeover. Our hope is to launch the new site by 10/6, but please check our social media for last minute updates - specifically Fibernymph Dye Works on Facebook, @fibernymphdyeworks on Instagram, and the Fibernymph Dye Works group on Ravelry.

    Newsletter

Because of all of the upcoming changes to the site and shop, as well as a lot of exciting releases we have planned for the coming months, we have started a newsletter! If you'd like to stay in the loop about FDW goings on, please sign up for our mailing list! We will not send more than one newsletter per week and your information is never shared with anyone!

  • What We Do

Since 2011, FDW has specialized in creating dynamic self-striping colorways. Dyed on a variety of bases in weights from fingering to bulky, we help you enjoy the stripe-y goodness from head to toe!

Our product line also includes color block gradients, variegated & speckled colorways, random dyed and hand-painted sock blanks, as well as a wide range of wonderfully versatile semi-solids.

For the spinner, we offer gradient and random dyed braids of fiber on a number of non-superwash breeds including BFL, Polwarth, Falkland, and silk blends.

  • Our Yarns

All of our yarns come in 100 gram skeins, unless otherwise noted.

We currently carry the following yarn bases in our shop:

    • Bounce, fingering, 2-ply, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 400 yards
    • Squoosh 2.0, fingering, 3-ply, 75/25 SW Corriedale/Nylon, 383 yards
    • Bedazzled, fingering, 2-ply, 75/20/5 SW Merino/Nylon/Stellina, 438 yards
    • Heavenly, fingering, 4-ply, 80/10/10 SW Merino/Cashmere, Nylon, 435 yards

We've recently brought back our previously retired Sunshine base! This light fingering, 100% SW Merino 3-ply has 490 yards per 100 grams, and it pairs beautifully with our newest luxury base, Floof.

  • About

I'm Lisa Cannon, the owner and dyer behind Fibernymph Dye Works. My studio is located in the beautiful Laurel Mountain region of southwestern Pennsylvania. As an avid knitter with a passion for knitting socks, I started FDW in response to my own desire to see more self-striping yarns available in the indie-dyed market.

FDW began in January, 2011 as a family venture, both of my then teenagers playing an active role in the operation of the business. As the years progressed and they moved on to follow their own paths, I've been fortunate to have a number of others come in and out of the FDW family, helping to create the beautiful products we sell.

It was a natural progression from self-striping to dyeing color block gradients - striping colorways with a single repeat throughout the skein, perfect for shawls, wraps, cowls, and so many other garments.

Our product line has continued to grow in scope over the years, including variegated & speckled colorways, ever-versatile semi-solids, and most recently, sock blanks dyed using a number of amazingly fun techniques.

Whatever your fiber-crafting desires are, we hope you will find something you love among the items we create.
