This year’s Pi Day theme is crystals…those mesmerizing stones in myriad colors. I couldn’t choose just five crystals to feature though, so I created two different Crystal Pi colorways! This listing is for Crystal Pi Light, its five stripes inspired by the light colors of Rose Quartz, Peridot, Blue Lace Agate, Citrine, and White Moonstone. The other version, Crystal Pi Dark, (shown in the second picture) can be found here.
As a little something extra, we’ve also created coordinating Crystal Pi Light Stitch Markers (seen in the third picture), which you will find here.
Like all of our Pi Day colorways, the striping pattern is based on the numeric sequence of pi – 3.141592…, which is a non-repeating number. Thus, the stripe sequence does not repeat within the skein, and you will not be able to get a matching pair of socks (or anything) from a single skein. But if you’re a math geek, that’s part of the fun! We include a stitch marker affixed to the beginning of the sequence (Rose Quartz) so you can start your project with the first Pi digit, if you’d like to! Note that anywhere in the sequence where a zero occurs, the corresponding stripe is skipped, and the color progression will reflect that.
Crystal Pi Light is currently available in-stock on the following bases:
Bronzed Sparkle – fingering, 70/20/10 SW Merino/Nylon/Bronze Stellina, 438 yards per 100-gram skein
Squoosh 2.0 – fingering, 75/25 SW Corriedale/Nylon, 383 yards per 100-gram skein
Traveler – short skein – sport, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 262 yards per 80-gram skein
Traveler – sport, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 328 yards per 100-gram skein
Recommended care: Though these are superwash wools and can be machine washed, we recommend hand washing in cool water and then air dry flat.
All of our yarns and fibers are individually hand-dyed using professional grade acid dyes. Colorway names are consistent between yarns/fibers dyed with the same dye colors, however color can (and likely will) vary between skeins and between different bases.
We make every effort to assure the colors in our photos are as accurate as possible, but please note that colors can vary from monitor to monitor.
