This item will be available for purchase beginning at noon eastern on Wed., 6/16.
This batch of Driving PA turned out a little bit differently than the description outlines below. Specifically, the variegation in the gray/brown and orange/red stripes ended up looking more tonal instead and there is somewhat less variation in the tonal stripes. Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with the batch and the colors are lovely as they are. However, since they do not look the way they were meant to, I am offering them at a 10% discount off their regular price.
On Virtual Allentown weekend, we debuted Driving PA: East/West – a special colorway to celebrate Pennsylvania! We’re keeping it in the shop now for everyone to enjoy!
Pennsylvania is a beautiful state, and being located in the southwestern corner means that travel often takes us east. Such is the case when we vend in Allentown! There are approximately 238 miles between the FDW studio in the west and Allentown over in the east. As we drive to the show, we get to see the glorious views of the Allegheny Mountains, we cross over waterways from small streams to the Susquehanna River, and all along the way are green forests and farmlands galore. I may be biased, but I think its one of the prettiest places in the world.
Driving PA: East/West features five tonal and variegated stripes representing the elements I described above: tonal blue for the rivers; tonal green for the foliage; variegated gray/brown for the striations of rock on the mountainsides; tonal yellows for driving into the sunrise in the east; and variegated orange/red for driving back home into the sunset in the west. Note the differences in the batch as described above.
Driving PA: East/West (A Little Different) is available in-stock on the following bases:
Bounce – fingering, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 400 yards per 100-gram skein
Mountain Tweed BFL – fingering, 85/15 SW BFL/Donegal Nepp (nylon), 438 yards per 100-gram skein
Heavenly – fingering, 80/10/10 SW Merino/Cashmere/Nylon, 435 yards per 100-gram skein
Recommended care: Though these are superwash wools and can be machine washed, we recommend hand washing in cool water and then air dry flat.
All of our yarns and fibers are individually hand-dyed using professional grade acid dyes. Colorway names are consistent between yarns/fibers dyed with the same dye colors, however color strengths can (and likely will) vary between skeins and between different bases.
We make every effort to assure the colors in our photos are as accurate as possible, but please note that colors can vary from monitor to monitor.
