The Wild Atlantic Way along western Ireland is full of stunning scenery. The bright blue sky converges with the steel blue of the Atlantic; silver blue foam adorns the wave crests and is mirrored in the rock formations that skirt the shore. In early spring, the grasses on the land show off rich bronze hues as they emerge from the winter and flourish toward the brighter days of summer.
Wild Atlantic Pi is inspired by all of these scenes from my trip to western Ireland in April 2022. I knew from the moment I started my journey from County Clare northward that the beauty I was surrounded by would be the inspiration for some very special colorways. Wild Atlantic Pi is the first of these, featuring the blues reminiscent of the bright sky and steely Atlantic offset by shades of grassy bronze green.
Like all of our Pi Day colorways, the striping pattern is based on the numeric sequence of pi – 3.141592…, which is a non-repeating number. Thus, the stripe sequence does not repeat within the skein, and you will not be able to get a matching pair of socks (or anything) from a single skein. But if you’re a math geek, that’s part of the fun! We include a stitch marker affixed to the beginning of the sequence (Atlantic Steel Blue) so you can start your project with the first Pi digit, if you’d like to! Note that anywhere in the sequence where a zero occurs, the corresponding stripe is skipped, and the color progression will reflect that.

All of our yarns and fibers are individually hand-dyed using professional grade acid dyes. Colorway names are consistent between yarns/fibers dyed with the same dye colors, however color can (and likely will) vary between skeins and between different bases.
We make every effort to assure the colors in our photos are as accurate as possible, but please note that colors can vary from monitor to monitor.
