I will be ending this TBT listing soon. Thank you to everyone who has purchased a skein of Soft Kitty in support of The Loveland Foundation’s Therapy Fund. Together we have raised over $400 so far, $200 of which has already been donated! There are still a few in-stock skeins left, for which I will donate $10 per skein to this fund when they sell!
Welcome to Throwback Thursdays – Thursday updates of colorways that we’re excited to be bringing from waaaaaay back in FDW’s catalogue!
This week’s Throwback Thursday colorway is the much-loved Soft Kitty. This three-color/five stripe repeat of gray, black, and pink was inspired by Big Bang Theory’s character Sheldon, or more specifically the song his mother used to sing to him as a child to make him feel better when he wasn’t feeling well.
Everyone deserves to be able to access help in times of distress, but for people of color, quality health care – and especially mental health care – is too often a path fraught with obstacles. In an effort to help with financial obstacle on this path, I will be donating $10 from each skein of Soft Kitty to The Loveland Foundation’s Therapy Fund, which provides financial assistance to Black women and girls seeking therapy. If you would like to help but do not need this yarn, I encourage you to check out their site directly and make a contribution there.
Shown on Bounce (top) and Mountain Tweed (bottom),the final TBT skeins of Soft Kitty are available on the following bases:
Bedazzled – fingering, 75/20/5 SW Merino/Nylon/Stellina, 438 yards per 100 gram skein

Mountain Tweed – fingering, 85/15 SW BFL/Nylon Nepp, 438 yards per 100 gram skein
Traveler – sport, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 328 yards per 100 gram skein
Recommended care: Though these are superwash wools and can be machine washed, we recommend hand washing in cool water and then air dry flat.
All of our yarns and fibers are individually hand-dyed using professional grade acid dyes. Colorway names are consistent between yarns/fibers dyed with the same dye colors, however color can (and likely will) vary between skeins and between different bases.
We make every effort to assure the colors in our photos are as accurate as possible, but please note that colors can vary from monitor to monitor.
