–Dye-to-Order: Pollinator Pi – Self-Striping, Mini Sets, Fiber

Welcome to our new Pollinators Collection! We’re celebrating the world’s vast array of creatures that help to keep our ecosystems going, and we’re kicking it off with a new colorway — Pollinator Pi!

Pollinator Pi features five colors that are common to many of our pollinator friends: Warm Orange, as is found on Monarch butterflies; Dusty Gold and Soft Black, colors seen on those fuzzy buzzing bees (Soft Black is also a color found on ants, flies, and many mammalian pollinators, such as bats and lemurs); Foliage Green, and Vermillion — greens and oranges are colors found on geckos and hummingbirds, among other critters. Rounding out the palette, Pollinator Pi items also include Scruffy Greige in honor of mammals such as mice, rats, and shrews that also play an important role in pollination.

This is a DYE-TO-ORDER listing for Pollinator Pi self-striping skeins, mini skein sets, and fiber braids.

SELF-STRIPING

Pollinator Pi self-striping features five stripes in the main color sequence listed above. All Pollinator Pi self-striping skeins automatically come with a 20-gram mini skein of Scruffy Greige, as it is an official color in the Pollinator Palette. The sample shown was knit in our Mountain Tweed BFL base; the full skein and mini are shown in our Bounce base.

Like all of our Pi Day colorways, the striping pattern is based on the numeric sequence of pi – 3.141592…, which is a non-repeating number. Thus, the stripe sequence does not repeat within the skein, and you will not be able to get a matching pair of socks (or anything) from a single skein. But if you’re a math geek, that’s part of the fun! We include a stitch marker affixed to the beginning of the sequence so you can start your project with the first Pi digit, if you’d like to!

Each Pollinator Palette mini skein set includes six 20-gram minis, one each of Warm Orange, Dusty Gold, Soft Black, Foliage Green, Vermilion, and Scruffy Greige. The sample set in the second picture was dyed on our Bounce base.

Pollinator Pi is available in 4 oz. variegated braids featuring all six of the Pollinator Pi palette colors. Braids are available as dye-to-orders in the following fibers:

Recommended care for yarn: Though these are superwash wools and can be machine washed, we recommend hand washing in cool water and then air dry flat.

Recommended care for fiber: Hand wash only in cool water and then air dry flat. These fibers will felt.

All of our yarns and fibers are individually hand-dyed using professional grade acid dyes. Colorway names are consistent between yarns/fibers dyed with the same dye colors, however color can (and likely will) vary between skeins and between different bases.

We make every effort to assure the colors in our photos are as accurate as possible, but please note that colors can vary from monitor to monitor.
