Dye-to-Order: Sweetie Pi(e) Self-Striping

Sweetie Pi(e) is one of our Pi Day colorways that we created especially for Valentine’s Day many years ago, but we think it’s a sweet colorway all year long! Each color in this colorway represents a different way to express your feelings: red for passion, pink for admiration, peach for intensity and commitment, magenta for harmony and emotional balance, and purple for enchantment. The inset and the second image show the striping sequence for this colorway.

We are offering Sweetie Pi(e) as a self-striping colorway (with an optional, discounted coordinating mini). Read on for details of each, and then choose from the drop down menu above to pick which item(s) you’d like to order.

If you’re unfamiliar with our Pi colorways: the striping pattern of our Pi colorways is based on the numeric sequence of pi – 3.141592…, which is a non-repeating number. Thus, the stripe sequence does not repeat within the skein, and you will not be able to get a matching pair of socks (or anything) from a single skein. But if you’re a math geek, that’s part of the fun! We include a stitch marker affixed to the beginning of the sequence so you can start your project with the first Pi digit, if you’d like to! Note that anywhere in the sequence where a zero occurs, the corresponding stripe is skipped, and the color progression will reflect that.

SELF-STRIPING

Sweetie Pi is shown on Bounce. It is available as a dye-to-order order on the following bases:

Bounce – fingering, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 400 yards per 100-gram skein
Bedazzled – fingering, 75/20/5 SW Merino/Nylon/Silver Stellina, 438 yards per 100-gram skein
*Mountain Tweed BFL – fingering, 85/15 SW BFL/Donegal Nepp, 438 yards per 100-gram skein
Traveler – sport, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 328 yards per 100-gram skein
Strong DK – DK, 75/25 SW Merino/Nylon, 245 yards per 100-gram skein

Optional Coordinating Minis – If you are ordering a self-striping skein, you’ll have the option of adding coordinating mini skeins for a flat fee of $3.50. Minis will be 20-grams skeins of the same base as your self-striping choice, with the exception of Mountain Tweed BFL, for which you’ll receive a Mountain Tweed Merino mini — to goes with the BFL main base perfectly!

Recommended care: Though these are superwash wools and can be machine washed, we recommend hand washing in cool water and then air dry flat.

All of our yarns and fibers are individually hand-dyed using professional grade acid dyes. Colorway names are consistent between yarns/fibers dyed with the same dye colors, however color can (and likely will) vary between skeins and between different bases.
