As part of our new Pollinators Collection, we’re happy to bring you three colorways that first debuted in the original round of our Lepidoptera Club in 2023.
Cecropia is inspired by this stunning moth and its rich, moody coloring. The little accents on the lower wings? The ones that look like crescent moons?Don’t you just love those? Cecropias are the largest native moth in North America and can be found east of the Rocky Mountains in the US and Canada. I’ve never encountered one (yet!), but they would be a sight to behold!
Cecropia features five stripes — two wide stripes of Dark Gray and Deep Red acting as bookends for three wee stripes of Ivory, Hardwood, and Soft Black. The sample was knit in Bounce.
Cecropia self-striping is available in stock on the following bases:
Bounce – fingering, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 400 yd/100-gm skein
Strong DK – DK, 75/25 SW Merino/Nylon, 245 yd/100-gm skein
Recommended care: Though these are superwash wools and can be machine washed, we recommend hand washing in cool water and then air dry flat.
All of our yarns and fibers are individually hand-dyed using professional grade acid dyes. Colorway names are consistent between yarns/fibers dyed with the same dye colors, however color can (and likely will) vary between skeins and between different bases.
We make every effort to assure the colors in our photos are as accurate as possible, but please note that colors can vary from monitor to monitor.
