We’re going back to the beginning — the Original Pi Day colorway debuted in March 2015, launching one of the most popular collections of colorways we’ve had the joy to dye!
The Original Pi Day‘s stripes were quite literal in the pi/pie world, corresponding to five popular pie flavors:
Key Lime
Peach
Chocolate Cream
Strawberry Rhubarb
Apple
As in all of our Pi(e) colorways, the size of the stripes correspond with the order of the digits in pi (3.14159265358979323846….). Where a zero appears in the string of digits, the color of that stripe is skipped, so even the color repetition will be interrupted at times. In order to assure you can begin your project with the first digit, the initial “3,” you will find a stitch marker affixed to the strand that is first in the striping pattern. Warning! If you like your socks to match, this skein is not for you! You will need two skeins in order to make a matching pair. The sample shown was knit out of our Traveler sport weight base.
The Original Pi Day is currently unavailable.
Recommended care: Though these are superwash wools and can be machine washed, we recommend hand washing in cool water and then air dry flat.
All of our yarns and fibers are individually hand-dyed using professional grade acid dyes. Colorway names are consistent between yarns/fibers dyed with the same dye colors, however color can (and likely will) vary between skeins and between different bases.
We make every effort to assure the colors in our photos are as accurate as possible, but please note that colors can vary from monitor to monitor.
