Dye-to-Order: Color Gremlins

Every studio has its own gremlins. Sometimes they mischievous, mixing up dyes or hiding my tools. Other times, they’re helpful, leaving sprinkles of random inspiration for a new colorway! That’s what we have here, and all I could do was name this one Color Gremlins, in honor of these finicky little buggers!

Color Gremlins is available as a self-striping, mini skein sets, and fiber braids. See details of the DYE-TO-ORDER options below.

SELF-STRIPING

Color Gremlins features three wide, brightly variegated stripes  – Fuchsia and Lemon, Bright Ocean and Orange, and Vivid Violet and Poison Apple – with a wee fourth stripe in between speckled lightly with each of these colors. The sample was worked in our Traveler sport weight base; full skeins in second image are Traveler and Bedazzled.

Note that the micro-striping effect seen in the sample’s variegated stripes is a likely but not guaranteed outcome due to the random nature of this dye technique.

Self-Striping skeins of Color Gremlins are available DYED-TO-ORDER on the following bases:

Bounce – fingering, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 400 yards per 100-gram skein
Bedazzled – fingering, 75/20/5 SW Merino/Nylon/Silver Stellina, 438 yards per 100-gram skein
Traveler – sport, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 328 yards per 100-gram skein
Strong DK – DK, 75/25 SW Merino/Nylon, 245 yards per 100-gram skein

MINI SKEIN SETS

Each Color Gremlins mini skein set includes six 20-gram minis, one in each of Fuchsia, Lemon, Bright Ocean, Orange, Vivid Violet, and Poison Apple.

Color Gremlins mini skein sets are available DYED-TO-ORDER on the following bases:

Bounce – fingering, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 80 yards per 20-gram mini, 480 yards total
Bedazzled – fingering, 75/20/5 SW Merino/Nylon/Silver Stellina, 87 yards per 20-gram mini, 522 yards total
Strong DK – DK, 75/25 SW Merino/Nylon, 49 yards per 20-gram mini, 294 yards total

FIBER OPTIONS

Each Color Gremlins fiber braid is dyed in a random variegated style that includes all six Color Gremlins colors – Fuchsia, Lemon, Bright Ocean, Orange, Vivid Violet, and Poison Apple – while leaving some of the undyed white visible as well.

While not shown, we are happy to dye Color Gremlins for you as a spinning set – six 1-oz. mini bumps, one each of the six core Color Gremlins colors (see photos of the mini sets for a representation of these colors).

Recommended care for yarn: Though these are superwash yarns and can be machine washed, we recommend hand washing in cool water and air dry flat.

Recommended care for fiber: Hand wash only in cool water; air dry flat. These fibers will felt. Note that a minor amount of residual dye may be released from the fiber in the first couple of soaks. This is normal and should not affect the color of the overall spun yarn.

All of our yarns and fibers are individually hand-dyed using professional grade acid dyes. Colorway names are consistent between yarns/fibers dyed with the same dye colors, however color can (and likely will) vary between skeins and between different bases.

We make every effort to assure the colors in our photos are as accurate as possible, but please note that colors can vary from monitor to monitor.
