–Dye-to-Order: Fungi Pi(e) Self-Striping

Our 2021 Pi Day colorway, Fungi Pi(e), was all about mushrooms, preferably the edible kind that you could literally put into a pie…or on your pizza, or into some creamy soup! I’m getting hungry….

Fungi Pi(e)‘s five stripes represent five varieties of colorful ‘shrooms. No need to go out and forage…we’ve got ’em right here!

Beefsteak (reddish-brown)
Hen of the Woods (medium brown)
Pink Oyster (pink!)
Chanterelle (golden yellow)
Truffles (black-brown)

Like all of our Pi Day colorways, the striping pattern is based on the numeric sequence of pi – 3.141592…, which is a non-repeating number. Thus, the stripe sequence does not repeat within the skein, and you will not be able to get a matching pair of socks (or anything) from a single skein. But if you’re a math geek, that’s part of the fun! We include a stitch marker affixed to the beginning of the sequence so you can start your project with the first Pi digit, if you’d like to!

Fungi Pi(e) is available as a dye-to-order item on the following bases:

Bounce – fingering, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 400 yards per 100-gram skein
Bedazzled – fingering, 75/20/5 SW Merino/Nylon/Silver Stellina, 438 yards per 100-gram skein
Mountain Tweed BFL – fingering, 85/15 SW BFL/Donegal Nepp, 438 yards per 100-gram skein
Traveler – sport, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 328 yards per 100-gram skein
Strong DK – DK, 75/25 SW Merino/Nylon, 245 yards per 100-gram skein

Optional Coordinating Mini – If you are ordering a self-striping skein, you’ll have the option of adding a coordinating 20-gram mini skein for a flat fee of $3.50. This mini will be the same base as your self-striping skein, with the exception of Mountain Tweed — the mini will be our compatible Mountain Tweed Merino Fingering, not BFL. You are welcome to include a note with your order if you want a specific colored mini, otherwise we will send one of our choice!

Recommended care: Though these are superwash wools and can be machine washed, we recommend hand washing in cool water and then air dry flat.

All of our yarns and fibers are individually hand-dyed using professional grade acid dyes. Colorway names are consistent between yarns/fibers dyed with the same dye colors, however color can (and likely will) vary between skeins and between different bases.
