Dye-to-Order: Make Your Own Pi! – Personalized Pi Day Colorway (Newsletter Subscribers Offer)

The chance to make your own Pi doesn’t come around the shop very often, and this time it is a special opportunity only for newsletter subscribers. 

How Personalized Pi Colorways Work

With this listing, you can choose your own palette of five colors for your personalized Pi colorway, or you can provide us with an inspiration picture to create your colorway for you.

Because all of our self-striping yarns are processed in sets of two and we will not be selling any of your personalized Pi skeins in our shop, single skeins will only be available as a twin set (two 50-gram skeins of your colorway that will match up…this is especially perfect if you like your socks/mitts/etc. to be matchy-matchy!). If you prefer full skeins, you have the option to purchase two skeins of your colorway that will be dyed together.

How Your Pi skein(s) will work: Like all of our Pi Day colorways, your colorway’s striping pattern will be based on the numeric sequence of pi – 3.141592…, which is a non-repeating number. The stripe sequence does not repeat within full skeins, but if you opt for the twin 50-gram skein sets, both skeins will match in their striping pattern. We include a stitch marker affixed to the beginning of the Pi sequence on every Pi skein so you can start your project with the first Pi digit, if you’d like to!

Bounce – fingering wt., 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 400 yd/100-gm skein, or 200 yd/50-gm skein in twin sets. Minis are 80 yd/20-gm.
Bedazzled – fingering wt., 75/20/5 SW Merino/Nylon/Silver Stellina, 438 yd/100-gm skein, or 219 yd/50-gm skein in twin sets. Minis are 87 yd/20-gm.
Mountain Tweed BFL – fingering wt., 85/15 SW BFL/Donegal Nepp, 438 yd/100-gm skein, or 219 yd/50-gm skein in twin sets. Minis are 87 yd/20-gm of Mountain Tweed Merino fingering, 85/15 SW Merino/Donegal Nepp.
Traveler – sport wt., 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 328 yd/100-gm skein, or 164 yd/50-gm skein in twin sets. Minis are 65 yd/20-gm.
Strong DK – DK wt., 75/25 SW Merino/Nylon, 245 yd/100-gm skein, or 122 yd/50-gm skein in twin sets. Minis are 49 yd/20-gm

Optional Add-On Mini — Every custom order Pi skein/twin set has the option to add-on a coordinating mini skein for a flat fee of $3.50 each. You can choose one mini, two minis of the same color, or two minis of different colors. If you’d like to request specific colors from your Pi colorway for your mini(s), please leave a note with your order. Otherwise, the mini color(s) will be dyer’s choice!

Recommended care: Though these are superwash wools and can be machine washed, we recommend hand washing in cool water and then air dry flat.

All of our yarns and fibers are individually hand-dyed using professional grade acid dyes. Colorway names are consistent between yarns/fibers dyed with the same dye colors, however color can (and likely will) vary between skeins and between different bases.

We make every effort to assure the colors in our photos are as accurate as possible, but please note that colors can vary from monitor to monitor.
