We recently took a week long canoe trip on the Au Sable River in Michigan. It was peaceful, the scenery was beautiful, and the wildlife was a joy to see! But something else that captured my fascination all along the way were the rocks along the bottom of the river. Everywhere we stopped, I couldn’t help myself…I had to pick up rocks and marvel at the array of shapes, textures, and most of all the varied colors found in them! From granite to quartz to sandstone and more, beautiful pops of color were revealed as the sunlight danced on the wet stones.
This colorway, River Rocks, is my six-stripe interpretation of the beauty I found in these glacial remnants. The second image is a representation of how this colorway stripes. The third image is an inspiration photo of some of the rocks that influenced my color choices.
River Rocks remains in-stock on:
Traveler – sport, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 328 yards per 100-gram skein
Cozy – worsted, 100% SW Merino, 220 yards per 100-gram skein
Recommended care: Though these are superwash wools and can be machine washed, we recommend hand washing in cool water and then air drying flat.
All of our yarns and fibers are individually hand-dyed using professional grade acid dyes. Because of their hand-dyed nature, colorways can (and likely will) vary somewhat between skeins, between different bases, and between dye batches. If you are purchasing more than one skein of the same colorway to be used together in a project, please leave a note with your order letting us know so we can assure your skeins are from the same batch.
We make every effort to assure the colors in our photos are as accurate as possible, but please note that colors can vary from monitor to monitor.
