Joining our young Pi Day family, The Darker Side of Pi(e) first came to the shop in 2016. This colorway, however, represents pie flavors you likely won’t find at the bakery, due to their poisonous nature:
Juniper (blue/purple)
Holly (red)
Pokeberry (black/purple)
Jerusalem Cherry (orange/red)
Nightshade (black)
As in all of our Pi(e) colorways, the size of the stripes correspond with the order of the digits in pi (3.14159265358979323846….). Where a zero appears in the string of digits, the color of that stripe is skipped, so even the color repetition will be interrupted at times. In order to assure you can begin your project with the first digit, the initial “3,” you will find a stitch marker affixed to the strand that is first in the striping pattern. Warning! If you like your socks to match, this skein is not for you! You will need two skeins in order to make a matching pair. The sample shown was knit out of our Bedazzled base.
The Darker Side of Pi(e) is currently available in stock on the following bases:
Heavenly – fingering, 80/10/10 SW Merino/Cashmere/Nylon, 435 yd/100-gm skein
Traveler – sport, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 328 yd/100-gm skein
Mountain Tweed Merino DK – DK, 85/15 SW Merino/Donegal Nepp, 231 yd/100-gm skein
Recommended care: Though these are superwash wools and can be machine washed, we recommend hand washing in cool water and then air dry flat.
All of our yarns and fibers are individually hand-dyed using professional grade acid dyes. Colorway names are consistent between yarns/fibers dyed with the same dye colors, however color can (and likely will) vary between skeins and between different bases.
We make every effort to assure the colors in our photos are as accurate as possible, but please note that colors can vary from monitor to monitor.
