In Stock: Swallowtails Self-Striping

As part of our new Pollinators Collection, we’re happy to bring you three colorways that first debuted in the original round of our Lepidoptera Club in 2023.

Swallowtails was inspired by the beautiful Swallowtail butterflies – both the Eastern Black Swallowtails (second picture) and Eastern Tiger Swallowtails (third picture) – that we have here in southwestern Pennsylvania. The yellow tigers are my favorites, but both varieties are quite beautiful and share the same colors, just in different configurations.

Swallowtails is a five stripe colorway featuring three wee stripes of Bright Blue, Vermilion, and Medium Gray, alternating with wide stripes of Soft Black and Tiger Yellow. The sample shown is knit in Bounce.

Bounce – fingering, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 400 yd/100-gm skein
Mountain Tweed BFL – fingering, 85/15 SW BFL/Donegal Nepp, 438 yd/100-gm skein
Traveler – sport, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 328 yd/100-gm skein
Strong DK – DK, 75/25 SW Merino/Nylon, 245 yd/100-gm skein

Recommended care: Though these are superwash wools and can be machine washed, we recommend hand washing in cool water and then air dry flat.

All of our yarns and fibers are individually hand-dyed using professional grade acid dyes. Colorway names are consistent between yarns/fibers dyed with the same dye colors, however color can (and likely will) vary between skeins and between different bases.
