The inspiration for this colorway is tied to my love of Lord of the Rings, in this case the Peter Jackson movie adaptation. When I was thinking of words of inspiration to continue, to fight on, even when the world seems bleak and we might feel our situation is hopeless, Aragorn’s battle speech to the Men of the West as they stood at the Black Gate immediately came to mind:

“I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails…but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields…but it is not this day!
This day we fight!”

We all fear our own personal wolves and shattered shields, that we may fail to be able to continue. But there is hope. Stand strong, because this day, we fight. And tomorrow, we fight…until we win.

SELF-STRIPING

This Day We Fight is a four stripe colorway with three bold colors of hope — Lemon Yellow, Buttercup Yellow, and Ember Orange — alternating with a wee stripe of variegated teal, purple, and dark gray, the combination of which I’m calling Fear No Darkness.

This Day We Fight self-striping is shown on Bounce ; the sample is knit using Fear No Darkness Teal for the toe and Fear No Darkness Purple for the heel. Each self-striping skein ships with a coordinating bonus mini skein.

This Day We Fight is in-stock on the following bases:

Bedazzled – fingering, 75/20/5 SW Merino/Nylon/Silver Stellina, 438 yd/100-gm, plus 87 yd/20 gm mini
Strong DK – DK, 75/25 SW Merino/Nylon, 246 yd/100-gm, plus 49 yd/20-gm mini

MINI SETS

This Day We Fight mini sets contains six 20-gram minis, one each in the six component colors of the self-striping colorway.

Recommended care: Though these are superwash wools and can be machine washed, we recommend hand washing in cool water and then air dry flat.

All of our yarns and fibers are individually hand-dyed using professional grade acid dyes. Colorway names are consistent between yarns/fibers dyed with the same dye colors, however color can (and likely will) vary between skeins and between different bases.

We make every effort to assure the colors in our photos are as accurate as possible, but please note that colors can vary from monitor to monitor.
