It’s Pi Day season! For 2024, we’re celebrating our furbabies with two new Pi Day colorways: Puppy Pi, found in this listing, and Kitty Pi, which you’ll find here. Each colorway was inspired by the most common fur colors these friends show up with — and often share with us, all over our furniture, our clothes, our knitting…but we love them anyway!

Puppy Pi features five colors frequently seen on our doggos: Dark Brown, White, Medium Brown, Black, and Light Tan. We are offering Puppy Pi as a self-striping, in mini skein sets, as fiber braids or spinning sets, and we also have Puppy Pi stitch markers! See below for the details of each.
SELF-STRIPING
Puppy Pi self-striping features five stripes in the Puppy Pi colors of Dark Brown, White, Medium Brown, Black, and Light Tan. The sample was knit in our Bounce base. It is shown with full skeins in Bounce and Mountain Tweed BFL. If you are not familiar with how our Pi Day striping pattern works, please see the note below the for an explanation.
Puppy Pi self-striping is available as a Dye-to-Order item on the following bases:
Bounce – fingering, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 400 yards per 100-gram skein
Bedazzled – fingering, 75/20/5 SW Merino/Nylon/Silver Stellina, 438 yards per 100-gram skein
Mountain Tweed BFL – fingering, 85/15 SW BFL/Donegal Nep (nylon), 438 yards per 100-gram skein
Traveler – sport, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 328 yards per 100-gram skein
Strong DK – DK, 75/25 SW Merino/Nylon, 245 yards per 100-gram skein
About our Pi Day striping pattern: Like all of our Pi Day colorways, the Puppy Pi striping pattern is based on the numeric sequence of pi – 3.141592…, which is a non-repeating number. Thus, the stripe sequence does not repeat within the skein, and you will not be able to get a matching pair of socks (or anything) from a single skein. But if you’re a math geek, that’s part of the fun! We include a stitch marker affixed to the beginning of the sequence (Dark Brown) so you can start your project with the first Pi digit, if you’d like to! Note that anywhere in the sequence where a zero occurs, the corresponding stripe is skipped, and the color progression will reflect that.
MINI SKEIN SETS
Our Puppy Pi mini skein sets include five 20-gram minis, one in each of the five Puppy Pi colors: Dark Brown, White, Medium Brown, Black, and Light Tan. The first photo shows the mini set on Bounce. The third photo shows the mini set along with our Kitty Pi mini set.

Recommended care for yarn: Though these are superwash wools and can be machine washed, we recommend hand washing in cool water and then air dry flat.
Recommended care for fiber: Hand wash only in cool water; air dry flat. These fibers will felt. Note that a minor amount of residual dye may be released from the fiber in the first couple of soaks. This is normal and should not affect the color of the overall spun yarn.
All of our yarns and fibers are individually hand-dyed using professional grade acid dyes. Colorway names are consistent between yarns/fibers dyed with the same dye colors, however color can (and likely will) vary between skeins and between different bases.
We make every effort to assure the colors in our photos are as accurate as possible, but please note that colors can vary from monitor to monitor.
